Under Construction…finally!

Our new photography website and blog is under construction…finally! We can’t wait to unveil all the new things coming up as well as tell you about recent photo shoots and projects we’ve been working on. We can’t reveal too much yet but it will be exciting! So stay tuned and thanks for your patience everyone.

Since blog posts are more interesting with photos, I’ll leave you with a recent image of Tonic Studio Photography’s no. 1 fan, Ash. Took this paparazzi image of Ash while he was out and about roaming the eagle sanctuary earlier this year.

Sneak Peek at this beautiful fall wedding.

With all the fall activities in full swing and the fall portrait season just about over, I may finally get a minute to get caught up with all the blogging. Here’s one of my faves from a wedding we recently shot. A hot couple, an amazing location and a sweet wedding full of heart. Will be posting the full blog posts very soon. Also in the works is our new website and blog. I’m very excited for the launch and will be announcing more about it in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for more.

Justin & Kayla : A Love Story

You can almost feel her heart skip a beat when she looks at him. And if you look closely at her beautiful greenish blue eyes, you can see the contentment in her spirit. There’s joy and  peace and happiness. Happiness for another chance at being able to hold her man close. The man who stole her heart and made her complete. Genuine joy that he is now back here with her after being separated from him by distance while he was honorably serving our country in Iraq for the last year.

For Justin & Kayla, it didn’t take very long for both of them to know that they belonged together. When they first met each other, they knew. That was all it took, they then spent the next few weeks falling in love. It all felt right, up to that moment that Justin proposed to her, determined  that neither time nor distance would ever keep them apart.

From the moment we met this beautiful couple, we immediately fell in love with their charm and their genuine passion for life and for each other. I just know that documenting their wedding next year will be ultra fabulous! They really are two of the most joyful people to be around and I’m so sure that this will be an indication of how fun and how full of love and laughter their wedding day will be.

We shot their engagement session a few weeks ago in Bayview Beach one early morning right before a rainstorm. We had dramatic clouds, great light, the beautiful and surreal low tide, and a couple that was genuinely in love. What else could we ask for. Here are the first few shots of the day and they turned out to be one of my favorites.

Senior Portraits 2010 : Jeff H.

For this senior session we have a guy! We don’t shoot many senior guys, but when we do they turn out amazing. Jeff is totally cool, and is an extremely talented guy. He has a great singing voice, can play the sax, the guitar  etc. We chose the farm as the location since there were many cool backdrops we could use to give his photos that fashion edge plus it’s just perfect for Jeff’s laid back personality. Enjoy his gorgeous photos!

Amber & Brandon: Falling in love all over again.

One of the best things about our job is that we get to meet new people all the time. People fascinate me, with all their stories, their personalities, their quirkiness…all of these fascinate me to no end. So it was really exciting to meet this sweet couple who had this beautiful and inspiring story about their powerful bond. As we listened to them, Joe & I knew that we would only have to observe their love story unfold, listen with our hearts and with cameras in hand, capture this intangible and powerful bond between them and hope to make it tangible through our photography.

Here’s a shot that I was more than pleased with. There is something beautiful and ethereal about this shot and how the sun flare pattern appeared between them. The afternoon natural light and the Washington sun certainly performed for us that day! There were more than a few of these moments that unfolded before us and it was a true pleasure to be there and watch these two fall in love all over again. Thank you so much Amber & Brandon for allowing us to spend the afternoon with both of you~Joe & Toni

A birthday shoot by the countryside.

For Ellya’s 15th birthday we decided on a fun birthday shoot out in the countryside complete with balloons as props since I wanted to do something different than the usual “look-at-the-camera-smile-and-look-pretty” type of poses. I really wanted to get at least 20 balloons since I was inspired by the chic Sofia Coppola Miss Dior ads with the pink and white balloon bundle. But unfortunately my car wasn’t large enough to fit that many balloons so we settled for a few cute blue & yellow ones. Perhaps we’ll have to try this concept again for a future shoot.

We then hopped into our car and took a quick drive out to the beautiful Skagit countryside. I saw this beautiful yellow meadow with blue skies in the background and decided to stop and start our shoot there. We ended up with one of my most favorite shots below:

We then went out closer to the beach and had some jumping in the air action shots. I like how this turned out with the blue skies and all.

She tried to blow a big bubble but it didn’t quite work as well as we thought it would…but it still looked cute.

Here’s a happy birthday wish to our sweet,  spunky and beautiful Ellya…who is fast becoming a wonderful, young lady. We wish you would stop growing up too fast May you continue to shine and bless many in everything that you do…love mom & dad.

Baby Brody is 3 months old!

Many of you remember Brandon, Amber & their cute little newborn baby from this past blog post. Well…time surely flies because he is now 3 months old and we were able to capture some adorable portraits of this handsome little boy.

What a little charmer he is! Just look at these photos and tell me if he doesn’t steal your hearts away…

Our  kids are enjoying the last few weeks of summer before they return back to school so we’ve been busy with summer activities. I hope you’ve all had a great summer. Ours have been  a fun, action filled summer so far.

Kevin + Jenny: A beautiful Pacific Northwest summer wedding.

We knew that Kevin and Jenny would hold a special place in our hearts, the moment we booked their wedding. Both of them are such warm, fun loving, bighearted, and spontaneous people, that we automatically knew that their wedding would be a blast to photograph. And we were right! They had the most beautiful outdoor summer wedding.

Kevin really went  all out to surprise his beautiful bride, Jenny.  How’s this for fun? Not only did Kevin and his groomsmen prepare a cool retro song and dance number to serenade Jenny with at the reception, he also planned an elaborate surprise wheel-of-fortune like game where all their bridal party were involved in revealing the surprise honeymoon destination. Finally, he whisked his bride away to the airport a few hours after the wedding to go on their honeymoon to Aruba!

One of the big things that stood out to us during Kevin and Jenny’s wedding was the genuine love their friends and family had from them.  During the wedding toast, each person spoke about their big hearts and how caring and thoughtful they are with their friends and family. Kevin and Jenny extended that same warmth to us as well, making us feel like we’re old friends. I don’t know how we are so blessed to get such wonderful people to work for. Thank you Kevin and Jenny for such great memories from your wedding day.  It was truly an honor getting to know you and your amazing group of friends, Love, Joe & Toni.
