Amber & Brandon: Falling in love all over again.

September 19, 2009

One of the best things about our job is that we get to meet new people all the time. People fascinate me, with all their stories, their personalities, their quirkiness…all of these fascinate me to no end. So it was really exciting to meet this sweet couple who had this beautiful and inspiring story about their powerful bond. As we listened to them,  I knew that I would only have to observe their love story unfold, listen with my heart and with camera in hand, capture this intangible and powerful bond between them and hope to make it tangible through our photography.

Here’s a shot that I was more than pleased with. There is something beautiful and ethereal about this shot and how the sun flare pattern appeared between them. The afternoon natural light and the Washington sun certainly performed for us that day! There were more than a few of these moments that unfolded before us and it was a true pleasure to be there and watch these two fall in love all over again. Thank you so much Amber & Brandon for allowing us to spend the afternoon with both of you.

The light shines down on these two…

Waiting for the right moment as we captured the beautiful Edmonds sunset behind them.

Many of you remember Brandon, Amber & their cute little newborn baby from this past blog post. Well…time surely flies because he is now 3 months old and we were able to capture some adorable portraits of this handsome little boy.

What a little charmer he is! Just look at these photos and tell me if he doesn’t steal your hearts away…

A birthday shoot sneak peek plus what’s coming up….

August 19, 2009

Our  kids are enjoying the last few weeks of summer before they return back to school so we’ve been busy with summer activities. I hope you’ve all had a great summer. Ours have been  a fun, action filled summer so far.

I’m not quite ready to blog about our recent photo shoots but here’s a few favorite photos from yesterday’s birthday shoot with Ellya.

Gregg Murphy:Corporate Portraits

April 29, 2009

A few weeks ago, a good friend of ours came to us for some corporate portraits for a new business he’s launching. Gregg is a passionate entrepreneur and a leader in his field, so it took a little bit of thinking outside the box to get a few images that would fit him. So we started the session inside our studio and got all the traditional studio headshots out of the way. On the way out, I just couldn’t resist taking some shots of him beside his cherry red vintage Ford. And I was so glad we got the shot because this turned out to be one of my most favorite shots of the day.

In a world of vanilla corporate headshots, why not  stand out by being yourself?

A Blue winter sunset shoot and my frozen fingers.

December 21, 2008

Everything seems to have come to a beautiful standstill this week. So I took Ellya, the camera and my strobe out for a quick 10 minute sunset shoot in front of our lake covered in snow.

We only had a few minutes before the sun disappeared for the day so I had to hurry and get our sunset shot set up using a Joe McNally “The Moment it Clicks” technique I learned this past year. I’ve been waiting for the right time to get a shot like this and again, I’ve learned that it’s all about catching the right light at the right time.

With halfway frozen fingers and a shivering model eager to pack things up and go back to the warm house, I quickly pressed the shutter and captured one of my most favorite shots of 2008.

After shooting a few frames, we quickly ran back up to the house and placed our hands under warm water to thaw out. Ouch! Never take pictures without a good pair of gloves on.

But then again, the pain of having halfway frozen fingers may be worth it after seeing these images below. These images may qualify as one of my favorites from 2008.

October 15, 2008

We just can’t wait to show you more photos from our amazing fall portrait shoot with the Geisendorf family. For now here are few sneak peeks on what’s coming up on our blog next week! We had a seriously fun time on this beach shoot… so stay tuned next week for the whole blog post.

Finally, we’re here.

September 15, 2008

The day has arrived. It’s blog launch day. The day I agonized over and stressed about is here.

Now, where do I begin? A fairly normal question which has crossed the minds and puzzled the psyches of many photographers and entreprenuers everywhere. Sometimes the answer is decided for you. Sometimes you have to dig in deeper. But one thing needs to happen, you have to just do it, start it, work at it and the inspiration and ideas will follow.

So here we are, feet wet and jumping in!

And in true Photo Blog form, we’ll be posting sneak peeks of recent shoots, past client sessions, some favorite photos from previous weddings, engagements and portrait shoots we’ve done, interviews with friends and favorite vendors, plus we’ll also be having fun contests with cool PRIZES!

Did someone say contest? Yes…we’ll be announcing our 1st fun contest in a few days so stay tuned! If you are a bride-to-be or know of a bride-to-be, be sure and tell her to come back and stay tuned for our FUN contest announcement on wednesday!
